SAG Awards, More Like UP-Lifting Awards
Yesterday on TNT was the 17th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards. These awards are more serious than the Golden Globes, and help determine who would win an Oscar for the upcoming Academy Awards in late February. Many of the winners in the movie category also won their categories for the Golden Globes, so they are most likely going to win an Oscar as well. For a complete list of winners, check out:

For motion pictures, came big wins for "The King's Speech" and for the individual acting categories, winners that came out on top were Colin Firth, Natalie Portman, Christian Bale, and Melissa Leo.

As another awards ceremony ends, how can we forget about the fashion on the red carpet. Yesterday, there was a trend for hot pink (my fashion premonition has come true), along with an emerging trend I see that will appear more which are dresses with print.
Hailee Steinfeld wore a Prada striped dress. I felt it was fresh and very age appropriate for her. The dress was flattering on her young figure with a fitted form on the top and a mermaid flaring at the bottom.
Jennifer Lawrence wore a hot pink number by Oscar de la Renta. This color is so beautiful on any skin type, and the design of the dress was beautiful except the competing black belt with the shoulder straps. Hot pink is the color of now and the future my friends.
Mila Kunis and her Alexander McQueen gown turned heads. The jewel tones, and the floral print on the bottom of the gown looked like a breath of fresh air. She truly looked like a goddess floating on the carpet.
Best dressed for me of the night was newly single Eva Longoria. Despite her rough past couple of months, she looks as stunning as ever in this Georges Hobeika Spring 2011 Couture gown. This low cut dress has a beautiful creme color that draped beautifully on the bottom. The dress was also backless! Very sexy, yet very appropriate for her, go get it Eva!!!
The SAG Awards was a very positive night where actors came together and truly appreciated their craft along with other actors that work in the business-very UPLIFTING, instead of SAG-gy don't you think?

Kourtney and Kim Taking the Big Apple
E! who first put out the television series, "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" have based a few shows after the famous family. First there was "Kourtney and Khloe Take Miami" and now there's "Kourtney and Kim Take New York." Since Kourtney has had her baby with longtime on-again, off-again boyfriend Scott Dissick, and Khloe has been married to Laker Lamar Odom for over a year now, it's not Kim Kardashian's turn to have this show be about her.
Though the move to NYC was more Kourtney's decision, she found real estate to open another location for the family boutique DASH, and also to be closer to her boyfriend and baby daddy's family since he's originally from New York. Since Kim is usually in a relationship, this show's season is basically her first season without a boyfriend, or exclusive relationship. Finally being single, she's off to the bustling city of New York to help her sister with the family business, and to have some fun in the Big Apple. With the first episode airing last Sunday, Kim was off to business out and about the New York City nightlife, running into former co-star Michael Copon. Another appearance was superstar Kanye West who would help with the set up styling of the new store.
So far in the news, Kim Kardashian has already been linked to quite a few people though she denies any rumors. In New York, she's been linked to Michael Copon, Kanye West, and now current boyfriend NBA player from the New Jersey Nets Kris Humphries. Even though the season was taped previously, it's a bit intriguing to see how things will turn out.
CATCH "KOURTNEY AND KIM TAKE NEW YORK" SUNDAYS ON E! AT 10PM.

Charlie Sheen In The News Again
So, I recently wrote about Charlie Sheen and his playboy lifestyle. Well folks, he has done it once again! It began with a call to 911 from two anonymous callers saying that Charlie Sheen was experiencing enormous amounts of pain in his abdominal area. By the time he was put into the ambulance at around 6:30am, two women were seen exiting his house. It is also reported that Charlie Sheen was actually throwing a big party with the usual guests: strippers and porn stars.
At Cedars Sinai where he was hospitalized, his guest list included his parents Martin Sheen and Janet, and ex-wives Denise Richards and Brooke Mueller. "Two and a Half Men" is on hiatus this week, though Charlie will be on set for the show starting Tuesday but his father urged him to check into rehab.
On Friday, Charlie Sheen voluntarily checked himself into rehab at Promises, a rehab facility in Malibu where his father dropped him off. But the latest news reports that he didn't even end up going there, instead he just stayed home.
So you're probably wondering why I keep writing about someone like him, and I don't truthfully know. What I do know is that Charlie Sheen has gotten too many chances in his career and has still not changed. Despite the ability to have a great woman in his life, he prefers the next new porn star. Knowing his own medical troubles recently, he still wants to party hard. Why do celebrities including him not get in trouble for possessing cocaine and using it. That night, someone reported that they delivered a suitcase filled with cocaine. Why is that acceptable? All he gets is a slap on the wrist and a little sympathy, then let's all pretend like nothing did just happen. Charlie Sheen has to realize that he has children and many others who love and care for him, but it's difficult when it seems like he does not care for himself. With being the highest paid actor in a television series, getting $1 million per episode for starring in "Two and a Half Men," Charlie Sheen seems to be living the high, ignorant life.

Who Is "THE GREEN HORNET?"
Yesterday I watched "The Green Hornet" because from the previews it looked pretty entertaining. I am not usually a fan of superhero movies, but something about the way it was advertised caught my attention. First of all, I don't even know the story of any superhero, let alone the Green Hornet. But his story is about a newspaper publisher named Britt Reid who turns into a crime fighting vigilante at night. Kato is his masked partner who is a karate master and gadget genius.
Like other superhero teams such as Batman & Robin, The Green Hornet and partner Kato do not really make a team. While watching Seth Rogan play the lead role of The Green Hornet, it felt he was there for only comic relief, which fell flat. I usually have a weird sense of humor, so I may laugh at things that aren't funny, but all the jokes Seth Rogan was trying to put into the movie was pretty bad. I don't know the reason why he would be put into that role, but Seth Rogan is the last person I would think who would be cast as a superhero. I thought the role of being a crime fighter with an altar ego such as The Green Hornet would make it seem like that character is the main one beating up the bad guys. But it was his partner Kato played by Jay Chou doing all the work. Kato doesn't even have a name he is known for other than The Green Hornet's sidekick. Kato was the one making all the gadgets and putting together their car called "The Black Beauty." He was the one fighting all the bad guys and helping The Green Hornet fight his guys too. So what exactly does The Green Hornet provide? He can't fight, he's not a technical genius, and in this case, he can't tell jokes.
Though this movie did have some action parts, the fighting sequences were all in slow motion, maybe for the purpose of seeing it in 3-D, I don't know. But I wish it wouldn't been more fluid in that part, so it would seem more believable. Also in the movie were Cameron Diaz, who played Britt Reid's secretary researching The Green Hornet, and James Franco who came out for a few minutes in the beginning of the movie. Two big stars with a useless role, but it was nice to see some eye candy with James Franco. Overall, this movie fell flat compared to the hype that was surrounding it. I would not suggest watching this movie, unless it was at a dollar theatre or something. Seth Rogan should stay in comedy and not try to combine different genres of movies together.

The Start of "SOMETHING NEW"
Props to my clever title for this post! Haha! Anyways, here comes another FAB lipstick that I think I "discovered," but apparantly everyone else seems to love this lipstick shade because it's like sold out almost everywhere!
This FAB lipstick is M.A.C.'s Something New lipstick, from the Stylishly Yours limited edition collection. What initially attracted me what the vibrant shade. This hot pink lipstick is so beautiful and will look good on many skin types. This is a creamy bright blue pink shade that has a creamy finish and opaque color coverage.
With the whole Nicki Minaj "Pink Friday" following, I think that bold and bright colors are making their way into the beauty and fashion scene just in time for Spring. Pinks are really hot right now because it's the color the defines our female race. It's girly, always stylish, and looks good on every female.
Right when I first saw this lipstick, it was LOVE at first sight. I am not a make-up girl in general, especially a M.A.C. follower like many of my friends, but for this lipstick shade I'll make an exception. When I tested this shade, it gave the right kind of "pop" to my lips. There was a smooth creamy finish, and throughout the day it stayed on, as vibrant as when I first put it on.
Now if you want to buy Something New, you better check every M.A.C. store, Macy's, AND Nordstrom, because this limited edition shade is sold out in almost all the locations I've been to. At the location where I bought it, there were only 3 left, well now 2. Or if you don't want to bother with going to the mall, it's still available for purchase online.

Find Your Perfect Shade of Red Lipstick
So lately, I'm been obsessed with different shades of lipsticks, but a classic example of that is finding my right shade of red lipstick. I've had a few different reds, but I'm personally into really bright reds, like in Gwen Stefani. Realistically though, that's not going to happen...I don't have blonde hair and pale skin (well not as fair as hers anyway). I went to Sephora last week and though they sold out of the Classic Red Lipstick I wanted to try, I ended up trying Sephora's Hot Tango 05 which is a Bright Red Lipstick, and it fit my skin pretty well.
I honestly feel like I have a constant skin tone, it seriously changes throughout the year. I'm golden and tan over the summer, then I'm pale and yellowish over the colder months. But when choosing a perfect shade of year that fits you personally, the foundation is to identify your skin tone and go from there. Here are some affordable lipsticks exclusively at Sephora![[BR]]
WARMER SKIN TONES...
(if you have golden skin/brown or hazel eyes/hair has golden or reddish tones--Lindsay Lohan)
Your perfect red: Wine Red, try Wine Red #58 which is a Bergundy Wine by Korres $22. It's a longwearing, creamy lipstick with antioxidants and anti-aging benefits.[[BR]]
COOLER SKIN TONES...
(if you have rosy or olive skin/blue, green, or hazel eyes/hair has no golden or reddish tones--Angelina Jolie)
Your perfect red: Scarlet Red, try Givenchy's Rouge Interdit Satin Lipstick in Absolutely Irresistible Red $28. This rich, creamy formula has a nice velvety texture.[[BR]]
OLIVE UNDERTONES...(Aishwarya Rai)
Your perfect red: Coral Red, try Yves Saint Laurent Silky Radiant Lipstick SPF 15 in Extreme Coral #15 $34. It's a smooth and creamy lipstick that exudes radiant color.[[BR]]
Red is a very tricky color to wear, but very doable to any skin type! The best way to test out colors is to actually go to a make-up counter and test out the lipsticks, even consult with a make-up artist...THAT'S WHAT THEY'RE THERE FOR!

Controversy Over New MTV Show: "Skins"
I remember seeing the commercials for this new MTV show Skins. It honestly looked pretty scandalous. Watching this show this past week, I couldn't help but realize how much it reminded me on the Canadian teen-drama Degrassi.
Degrassi was my show, and I still am an avid fan. I've kept up with it throughout the years and I thought no show would ever be this REAL. It dealt with many teen issues, that aren't exactly shown on television. The episodes followed a new dilemma for every character, and what attracted me so was how real the issues portrayed were. I haven't known of any other show that had so much depth and meaning that this show catered toward a younger audience.
And now here comes MTV's version, SKINS. Taken from the British version of Skins, MTV wanted to remake their own version. This show clearly seems uncut, showing scenes of partying, drug and alcohol abuse, and sexual content. Though it is claimed that this show is good for children to watch with their parents, I'm thinking, "why would anyone want to watch this type of show with their parents?" I know it's great to push boundaries, but why for teenagers. I'm sure it's pretty obvious what mishaps can happen to this generation when the teen years roll around, we don't need it portrayed on a television show.
Though many of the issues are similar to that of Degrassi, I feel like Degrassi had a sort of class about it. They dealt with the same issues, yet didn't explicitly portray it. On the other hand, maybe that's what television needs, something so raw it causes controversy, and that's what this show is already doing with just it's premiere episode airing the other day!
MTV, once a music video haven has gradually turned to reality shows. Now I can see the transition to actual shows such as "My Life As Liz" and "Skins." But thinking to shows MTV is becoming to be known for, such as "Teen Mom" and "16 and Pregnant," it seems kind of odd that MTV would be wanting to put pregnancy and teen exploitation as part of their programming. What message is MTV trying to send?
Out of all the issues Skins does portray, the biggest controversy is the use of actual teenagers in the show. Usually with any show or movie, there are actors 18 or older who play high school characters. Not Skins. They use teenagers under 18 as the title characters of the show, resulting in possible "child pornography exploitation."
If you want to see for yourself this teen drama that pushes every limit there is, catch "Skins" on MTV Mondays at 10pm.
