It's nice to see the generally positive comments on this forum, other forums for "professionals" are not so happy!
Personally I can't wait to start working with it.
You should have been here earlier! I think before everyone had seen some video of the presentation some people were getting heated!
Apple won't sell a suite (there are no suites in the App Store). Look at iWork - just individual apps for purchase. They'll probably charge $299 for FCP and $99/each for the other apps, or have it all rolled up into Final Cut Pro.
Wow $99 is sounding awfully wishful! I mean Color was considered a steal at being part of the $1,000 suite! I can't see how Apple is going to do offer the suite. Is FCPX the new FCE but it also comes as part of the $800ish suite?
Perhaps as it has been speculated FCPX is it and all the other applications fit into it (perhaps given the reason for skipping 8 & 9 revisions?)
I think Apple still has some big tricks under its sleeves and its a worthwhile one more thing... that we haven't seen in a while!

My girlfriends MacBook, runs at 15 degrees C pretty much all the time.
Here is a screen shot,
Rich.
FWIW, 15C = 59F. I've never heard of a processor running that low. Maybe it does, but that sounds really really odd.

Well, you are already paying for color-screen, video-playback, photo-playback etc. etc. etc.. They seem to be adding features constantly, yet the price does not go up (more or less).Well, since I never liked, or considered buying, a "regular" iPod you're only half-right... colour-screen is just normal development, I guess, probably not much more expensive than monochrome ones, in large quantity... video and games are still not available on the nanos, and hopefully won't be for a long long while, so that is for the buyers of the "regulars" to pay... and photo was developed for the regular iPods, and even if I don't really need or want it, it probably was fairly cheap, too... :)
If you wanted a barebones iPod, you would always have the ShuffleI have my mini, and if I'm to replace that (and not just get a new battery when the time comes) it will probably be with one of the new nanos, which - even with the added photo-playback - is still fairy basic... ;)

I was so wanting an upgraded Mini when Apple introduced the Nano. I disliked the new form and materials. But the new Nano is everything I wished for. Well almost. Why did they give us only black for the 8gig? This is the premium model. I want silver damn it!!! But otherwise full marks from me. Just placed my order for a Shuffle......awesome job Apple. One of the best introduction days I can remember. The new iTV is the icing on the cake. Bravo:D

As for tomorrow, I think it makes as much sense as anything at this point. Apple is facing two weeks of silence since the excitement of the pre-order is over and the release of the iPad has some time to come. It'd be a good way to stay in the news to release (or at least officially announce) updates on existing lines.
Correlating the release of the MBP with the availability of the iPad might get some people to come in for one and buy the other (higher margin on the iPad) or buy both even (Be really sweet if there was a discount for getting both). Hard to get people to buy an iPad, and then come back in a few weeks for a MBP, although how many people would really be probable customers for both I don't really know. I'll probably wind up with both eventually, but I'll wait it out for a 2nd generation iPad unless something like the Notion Ink Adam winds up being as cool in reality as it is in concept. I'm definitely in for a new MBP I think, although my personal experiences with windows 7 have been great so far (Vaio Desktop and Samsung Netbook) so if the new MBPs still have C2Ds (doubtful) or haven't figured out how to transition to a discreet GPU on the fly I might consider a high end PC at this point. Same price, and if you're not stupid about what you download and run avg the experience between 7 and OS X isn't nearly as different as when Vista was around, I wouldn't say it is better than OS X, they're different, but I like it just as well for what I need.
For now, just have to cross our fingers that tomorrow will be the day Steve Jobs makes even more money off of us all :)
Just out of curiosity, how many of you waiting for the new MBP either have ordered an iPad or are actually considering it? I'm intrigued, but solely for using it as a litigation tool, I don't really know how I see it fitting in with the MBP market but would love to know what you all think.

The Mac Pro dude, the Mac Pro is the desktop.
Funny, I though it was labeled as a workstation. And used workstation parts. And cost as much as a workstation.
My mistake! It's actually a reasonably priced desktop.
... Or not.

Tying it to a single computer's iTunes has been a nuisance from time to time.
So you never charge your iPhone or iPod? I'm all for wireless sync if the current method also stays.

yeah guys, cuz these arent old problems that have already been solved -- do you pay for calls to AT&T (or verizon) via your handset when you dial 411 (or whatever it is)? no. you dont.
so even if its not wifi-only, what makes you think they wouldnt apply the same sort of policy? support data is free.

Not so much about the data caps. There's no choice with many service providers. AT&T's data plan with the iPad for one example.
Without being too argumentative, the problem is people want a specific device and unlimited data. You can get unlimited data in a number of ways - just not necessarily with a specific device.
More to the point, I think it's just Full of Win mentioning that it's not a very ideal solution for those in Adobe's demographic. Which is a point we can discuss. I personally feel they've got it right, but I doubt there will be any substantial market for renting the full on suites when buying them outright ends up being a cheaper/more convenient option.
Actually, subscription makes sense when you consider:
a) You have the latest version at a known fixed cost
b) As a lease, rather than buy, it becomes tax deductible in full with no depreciation
c) If you only use some apps infrequently, it may be cheaper than a full suite
So it may make sense for some companies and or individuals.

Please delete this hoax of an entry from the Page 2 Rumors. Every second it's up there serves to discredit MacRumors. Seriously.
Is it possible to discredit a rumors site?

I can see Apple moving into third over the next two years.
That would be totally irrelevant.
Except for Apple, they all build the same old PCs. Because they all build the same product, sales can move from one company to another company very, very quickly, as we can see from the enormous growth followed by a very quick fall of Acer. Apple has 9.3%, so the rest has 90.7%. It would be possible with these numbers to have nine companies selling more than Apple. If Apple doubles their share to 18.6%, you still could have four companies selling more than Apple.
Apple's position in this chart doesn't matter one bit; not even the market share really matters; the thing that matters is how many Macs are sold. If HP takes a few sales away from Toshiba, Apple comes third. But if Acer takes a few sales away from HP instead, Apple comes fifth. What does it matter? (BTW. The IDC report at macobserver shows Apple fourth, with Acer having lost a lot more and coming fifth, not third).
The simple fact is, Apple is selling tons of product and will not change their pricing methodology to be competitive (iOS devices aside). I just scratch my head when all the Apple-ites on MR jump down my throat to defend Apple's pricing *Yes Sir may I have another.
If Apple is selling tons of products, in a market with plenty of competitors, how can they be not competitive? 9.3% of buyers in the USA decided that for their money, a Mac is the best computer they can find.

wal-mart is acting like a spoiled little brat. thair all upset because apple is getting a better price and are taking it to the heart. like their being uses or something? "how dare those movie studios use somenbody! it's not like wal-mart ever us.... oh wait... thats right their wal-mart." but seriously though ofcourse it's cheaper! it's digital content! i.e. no physical product to ship or package or store ( other that data on server ). wal-mart..... your evil. stop crying when you don't get your way.

"However, this does not mean these other applications are dead - simply that Apple is not talking about them... yet."
So maybe this explains the low price point. $299 for Final Cut Pro X and $999 for the full suite? I hope not. All looks amazing though!
I love the new Final Cut Pro X. I don't feel I need to upgrade unless it comes in the suite. $999.00 would be a great price for the suite, considering I paid that price for FCP alone, no suite, in 2001.

yes, apple will be shooting themselves in the foot if they don't have that issue resolved in the second generation model.
does anyone know how many hrs it is until we should "expect" the announcement assuming it is going to be released within the next day.
Haha! First there would be a mass resigning. They would just all quit Apple and leave an empty building behind. Then they would sadly shoot themselves in the foot at the parking lot. That's how it would happen.
I can't wait! Lsen Die MackBuch bitte!

Love your light, where did you get it from?
Thanks, it's a Philips LivingColors LED lamp: http://www.usa.philips.com/c/lighting-systems/livingcolors-clear-080044248/prd/
I don't live in the USA, I'm from the Netherlands. Philips is a Dutch company, so here in the Netherlands you can buy it everywhere.

This is the first, and last time Apple will ask for Sony's help.
Yeah, but not the last time it asks for all the hundreds of other suppliers help it does so yearly as Apple actually makes NOTHING itself bar software these days.......
And I'm pretty sure it's not called 'help' but rather buying the best components from suppliers to make your products with.
And on a side note, Sonys Exmoor R which is most likely what Apple will use, pretty much creams the iPhone 4's module, if it wasn't a big enough improvement Apple wouldn't bother with it and use something else.

That is what people aren't understanding. They see something and imagine it being the same design despite function changing. If they do touchscreen, it won't be long (if not instant) before they redo how it sits on the table.
A design that allows the screen to go relatively flat and vertical is necessary. This design should have been done already 3 years ago.
Surely this new device will be wedged shaped like a large slice of cheese or indeed a very deep keyboard where the keys are the screen....
You would need to use or enhance your LCD to be viewable from a ~45 degree angle. Ideally tweek it so it worked well at an angle rather than square on.
