I just bought a Linksys wireless router today to take advantage of my Tibook's airport card. I have the main line connected to my PC and access it wirelssly with my powerbook. My question is, how do I know if my setup is secure? I mean once I connected my cable modem and router to my PC, I turn my powerbook on and BAM! I'm on the internet, zero config. I like the zero config, but I live in an apartment, so what is keeping someone in my building from doing the same thing I did with my powerbook and moochin off my connection?

When you type in something short like G4 for example it turns nothing up. Why is this? Is G4 considered a common word? I think G4 and G5 should turn up results. There may be a setting for this.

Was very busy down there, a lot more so than I expected. As I approached the Apple Store at about 8:50am, I saw a smallish queue of about 100 people and thought, not too bad, shouldn't take too long to get one.... and then I found out this was actually the iPad 3G queue... and I was directed across where there was a huge queue of perhaps 400 or more people stretching right back.

2 hours later, I was inside paying for my 32GB black wi-fi model. Grabbed a blue smart cover afterwards. I've synced everything up and had a good play around. Wow, what a beautiful device. So fast. The screen brightness and colour reproduction is fantastic. Apps I tested and thought were great so far, Dead Space HD, Flipboard, Korg iMS20.

Great. But I care about 1 thing: fix the Spaces issues.
The Office applications (both 2004 and 2008) are the single WORST performing applications I have ever used on a Mac.
Seriously, for a company with the resources that Microsoft has, is it really too much to ask for spaces to work properly? Every other app works with spaces without a glitch, why doesn't office?
Switch to another application in spaces and go back to the previous office document: document moves to god knows which space. Same with the toolbox: have it open and who knows what might happen.
Will this ever get addressed?
The spaces issue was fixed just before snow leopard, Apple sorted it? I have been fine with this issue certainly since Snow Leopard.

Yes, it's confusing. Go to App Store, Purchases, Xcode, then click INSTALL. That won't actually install the product, but is going to put "Install Xcode" into your Applications folder. You launch it, and that installs the new version.Thanks for this. I finished downloading the 4.0.2 update from the App Store and launched Xcode and it still claimed to be running version 4.0. Didn't know what was going on there!

Send over a low-resolution PDF (72-144ppi) with all security options locked down, except for the ability to print, perhaps. You can do all this in Acrobat Pro, including removing the ability to extract content using Photoshop.
Third-party utilities can work around this given enough time and messing around, but most people won't bother.

You'd have to be fairly close to them for more than a brief encounter and the radiation dissipates after awhile. Not only that, they'd have to get fairly large doses in the first place to emit much radiation.I'm talking about the animals getting large dose exposures, like around the Japanese reactors. Birds get exposed then fly away and settle in populated areas. It was my understanding the this much radiation takes hundreds of years to dissipate. So if we assume the birds in my example don't get eaten by other animals (or be eaten by humans), if any exposed animals died they would still be radioactive and a health hazard to people coming across their bodies.
And what of the radiation the Japanese plants are pouring into the ocean, which can expose ocean life, that people might eat later in other countries?

Sacriest of all we are the only hospital within like 40-50 miles.
everyone comes here and the hospital is continually expanding, which may have caused the power outage because of the construction workers cutting something they weren't supposed to.

I have a Macintosh Classic II that i want to fix. right now it gives me a zebra sripe like pattnen when i turn it on. It starts fine, without any bootup chime, and generly doesn't do anything besides display a odd pattern.
anything i can do to see what's wrong with it?

i just got this and had my first lesson a couple days ago so i'm fresh, but pretty excited. seemed like a great guitar for the price and all you get with it, though the tuner is pretty garbage and the dvd wouldn't even load.
i was going to start a thread but saw this one. anyone have any good online resources for learning guitar or can recommend any specific youtube video series or something?

I am looking for a bumper case with a bigger headphone jack. I have a pair of AKG K-55 headphones and would like a case that works with them. The jack is 9mm in diameter, so it won't fit in the Apple bumpers 6mm hole. My car dock also has a bit larger of a dock connector, so that is a concern too. I really like the style and feel of the Apple bumper, but with those tiny holes it is just impractical.
