Yeah. Apple updated their PowerMacs (1250MHz model) to be ready for shipping.
As for the $5000 model, I think that's ridiculous, considering you can get an extra 512MB from MacMall, I think.

They do look bad, don't they? But is that because we're trained to perceive them that way?

At my college we're upgrading an Xserve G5 (RackMac3,1) to be a file server for some courses. Currently it has one sled with a 75GB drive. Obviously, this isn't enough.
I've tried some Googling on this matter and I'm hearing a ton of different stuff - custom firmware, size issues, etc. So, for anyone who knows, what's the actual lowdown on this machine. We want to put in three 2TB drives using three standard sleds, replaced with third-party drives. Is this possible?

Besides those of you who got to be at NAMM...
You mean NAB?
I'm sure we'll hear more about this at WWDC the beginning of June. ;)

There are usually pretty descent deals on the refurb store and usually not just one, so I am sure if you wait a while longer you will still be able to get a good deal, if not there are always other online stores such as eBay. BTW how much were you looking on spending?

A brash thing to say! I'm expecting this to be an inch shy of perfect now.
You should know - nothing is perfect. To expect as much will only lead to dissapointment. ;)

By no problem, do you mean that you feel no difference between 10.6 an 10.7?
Well the cursor is not as fast as in Windows, but it's managable.
I don't notice a difference between 10.6 and 10.7 as far as tracking speed, but I don't do much gaming and mouse speed is not an issue for me.
I don't use Windows on this Mac, so I am not sure about the speed in between Mac/Windows.

Where on earth can I find them other than eBay? I need the following...
 display bezel
 backlight inverter board
aluminum access panel(the one on the bottom that you remove to take it apart)
 power cable
Obviously I'd be willing to purchase a parts iMac if the price were right and it had what I need.

I'd go with VBulletin.
I've used every forum software this is just about, and have never had such a well-working and easy to mod site as with VB.
If you could spend time modding PHPBB to be more SEO, imagine how much better VB would be with that sime time spent optimizing it's SEO capabilities. It's ahead to begin with, the same amount (or less) of time will push it way out of PHPBB's reach.
Much less prone to malicious scripts, as well.

There is another one out there utilising an 800 MHz G3.
Unfortunately, I've never seen anything about graphics upgrades as this would take a whole lot more research and possibly a daughterboard and firmware upgrades to make it work.
cool thanks although i live in england and don't fancy sending all the way to the states, but thanks anyway

Your problem is that you formatted it as FAT32, which win7 doesn't like. What you need to do is create the partition with Boot Camp Assistant like before, but when it asks if you want to go to the installer, say no. Then use winclone to restore on that partition. I don't believe that it gets formatted in that process.

very well... I made the mistake of learning on WYSIWYG and now i'm kicking myself for not being more intimate with it....
THEN
learn flash... people want it, plain and simple, but nothing beats the foundations...HTML.
I find the whole Flash scene to be nuts. I block flash at my browser because so much of it just ads anyway.

Well SafariSpeed works great, but PithHelmet crashed Safari when I went to CNN.com. I noticed PithHelmet hasn't been updated since 10.3.8 came out, so maybe that's the problem. Thanks for the tips!

There was a really freak heavy thunder storm earlier, completely out of the blue*, went from sunny to storm in under 10 minutes, dunno if it's related, I thought it was quite strange, it's sunny now too.

How likely is it that Apple is holding back the groundbreaking new features or GUI changes?
I myself think there won't be any GUI changes from the developer version, but maybe some new features that make people go "wow".
As I am new to the Mac I would like to know what's the experience with previous Mac OS launches. Does Apple wait for the final version with the big changes?

Very nice. I'm glad you took my suggestion and starting making some flying llama avatars. I'm sure you'll come up with some very funny stuff.
