My Uptime - 12 hours :p
Do you pay your electricity bill?
Also that is one sure way to fry your Mac. Power surge can happen at any time.. Do you really trust those $100 surge boards for 24/7 use or do you have UPS.
Also think of how much dust gets in there...
Not smart to leave your computer on 24/7.
lol dont worry about the electricity bill, the project pays it selfs :)
but is it really bad for your iMac to leave it 24/7 ? discuss ?:D

Hi,
Has anyone been able to force an apple store to guarantee a Lion O/S upgrade for free with the purchase of a Macbook pro now?
Just curious.
Thanks!

Interesting article. It's fascinating and funny how computer technology progresses.
James Lileks, a news columnist and news ephemera Website owner, has a little section of his Web "museum" (http://www.lileks.com/institute/compupromo/index.html) with pictures from vintage mainframe computer advertisements, replete with his signature offbeat commentary. One depicted a Control Data 3500, and his final comment on it was: "Remember: your iPod has more storage capacity than everything in this room." :D

Wow, that seems like it came directly out of Phone Booth with Colin Farrell. Just watched it last nite in fact! (great movie, very psychological)

1) The ongoing offer (open every day, a lot of stock) can be seen as a hidden price cut.
2) Clearing out stock may be a sign of updates coming...

Besides what everyone else has said, you can also lower the transmission power so that it covers a small area around the express base station.
That and bieng a hidden network should work.

Try an IBM Thinkpad... in reviews, they often mention the quality of the keyboard, and having had one for a while, I would agree.

just to clarify, i'm not asking for advice in if I should invest. I understand concerns that apple has hit an all time high, but I strongly believe it will only increase in the next year.
If anyone has any advice as to how I can do this that would be great.
Call your local discount broker's office- TD Ameritrade, eTrade and ask them if it's possible.

Thanks for the heads up chrono about the collision detection, but that was not really where I was getting at.
Perhaps this image will make it clearer.

The merging part is where I'm stuck.
I want the decay of the 'barrier' realtime, not a bunch of sprites displaying a decaying barrier.
Think of Worms where you blast away a piece of ground....how do they do that.
Cheers

Why not simply report any thread title that you think is inappropriate? After all, that's what this button http://images.macrumors.com/vb/images/buttons/report.gif is for.

I'm learning about the Picker View and was pretty disappointed that the book didn't go beyond basic stuff. I went thru several other books and online as well as the built in Apple help.
Not one had an example of putting a pic inside the Picker.
The book was a single column, no example of multi column, or custom widths or loading from array.
I still don't know if you make a separate array or multi dementional array, do pics get loaded from url or into array 1st, is there a refresh method if you wish to change the values from another object (say a button the changes the value of a pic or text inside the picker)
Basically I need MUCH more detail, eight book and not one goes into good detail.
Is there any book that REALLY gets under the hood and opens things up?
Of all the programming help/docs/books I read, it's pretty hard to imagine there's not a better book than these.
Amazon's preview thing is pretty worthless, can't get into the meat of the book, the 'contents' doesn't tell you enuff.
Thanks, KarlJay.

When I enter iPhoto, I usually notice that the font is noticably bigger in the Source area than it is in iTunes. Basically, it looks like the exact same size as in iCal's Calendar area. It IS NOT the Large size, but is in-between the small and large size.
I have tried changing the source size and it works until I close it. When I start iPhoto back up again, it goes back to the bigger size. Is there anyway I can stop this from happening, or is this just a common bug with iPhoto?

I'm trying to forward requests from one port to another and running into problems.
I have a Mac Server (10.5) and a number of Mac clients. I want requests going to one of my clients for port 80 (192.168.1.20:80), to go instead to port 10080 (192.168.1.20:10080).
I've tried everything I can but I can't seem to get this to work. Here's what I've done:
I've added this to my ipfw.conf file:
add 100 fwd 192.168.1.20,80 ip from any to 192.168.1.20 dst-port 10080
But that didn't seem to work.
I also tried to add the correct info the my natd.conf.apple file.
natd.conf.apple:
interface en0
natportmap_interface en1
dynamic yes
log yes
log_denied no
deny_incoming no
use_sockets yes
same_ports yes
unregistered_only yes
reverse no
proxy_only no
clamp_mss yes
redirect_port tcp 192.168.1.20:80 192.168.1.20:10080
I stop and restart both NAT and Firewall from the Server Admin.
Only other thing I can figure is that I've got two NIC's in the server (en1 & en0) en1 is where all the clients are and the 192.168.1.xxx IP addresses. But en0 is the direct connection to the internet. So is it possible that my port forwarding is working, but on the wrong interface?
Is there something I'm doing wrong here?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
